Research that shows its working
At launch, TopVPNGuru reviews VPNs through published documentation and source-based editorial analysis. This method can establish a documented connection allowance, app availability, or pricing model. It cannot establish a measured speed or streaming result on a device we have not tested.
Every page should make that distinction clear. A recommendation is our judgement about the documented fit for a task. It is not a certification or a guarantee.
The checks behind a shortlist
We look at the reader’s device and task, app-specific support, active-connection limits, subscription structure, relevant privacy information, and support documentation. We then explain the tradeoff that might make another service a better choice.
Prices and promotions can depend on region, currency, eligibility, and tax. When a precise current offer has not been verified for the comparison, we link to the current provider offer and explain how to compare the full payment and renewal.
What a source means
A provider’s support page is a primary source for what that provider documents. It is not independent proof of every marketing claim. If we cite an audit, its scope, date, and subject matter must be relevant to the claim being made.
We do not treat an app-store rating, a server count, or a promotional badge as a substitute for a defined test.
Original tests require original records
A future hands-on test must record the device, operating system, app version, network conditions, server, protocol, date, and repeatable method. Measured results must be labelled with those limits. One successful stream does not prove permanent access, and one speed test does not rank every network.
Until that evidence exists, we do not publish numeric performance scores or claim to have personally tested a provider.
Affiliate relationships and editorial choices
Some links can generate commission. We identify those links and publish a disclosure. Commission is not a ranking measurement. We include direct-link alternatives when they offer a useful choice.
Corrections and updates
The date on a page records its editorial publication or update, rather than automatically changing every day. If a source changes, the affected claim should be rechecked and the content updated accordingly.
Report a correction through the contact page, with the page address and a source we can inspect. We do not accept a product claim simply because an interested party requests it.
Our editorial byline
Alex Reed is the disclosed pen name for TopVPNGuru’s editorial desk. The profile explains the research process, use of AI assistance, and testing limits. It does not claim a separate reviewer’s credentials or personal testing history.
