Is Surfshark worth buying?

Surfshark is a useful shortlist option for a household with many personal devices because every VPN tier includes unlimited simultaneous connections. Starter covers the VPN requirement; consider One or One+ only if their extra products suit your devices and needs.

We checked published documentation and a dated EUR offer on 16 October 2026. We have not conducted original speed, streaming or leak tests, and an unlimited account allowance does not establish performance on your network.

Starter vs One vs One+: what changes?

Alternative Number is a separate upgrade. Alternative ID in the bundle does not mean a virtual phone number is included. Check each extra’s operating-system, regional and usage requirements; a larger bundle does not give every product the VPN’s device allowance.

What unlimited devices actually covers

The connection guide permits unlimited simultaneous VPN connections on Starter, One and One+, including household sharing. It warns about abuse such as unauthorized resale. Antivirus is explicitly an exception to the unlimited allowance and is listed for Windows, macOS and Android.

This makes the account easier to plan around when several people use phones, laptops and televisions. Your broadband, Wi-Fi and devices still share finite capacity. We would not interpret the allowance as proof that adding connections has no practical effect on a busy household network.

Bypasser is different on Windows, Android, Mac and iPhone

Bypasser is Surfshark’s name for split tunneling. Check both what you can select and which route the selection uses.

The Windows, Android, Mac and iOS instructions support these distinctions. The iOS guide was updated on 15 October 2026.

Bypass VPN sends the listed traffic outside the tunnel. Route via VPN reverses the default so only the selection uses the VPN. A list of apps without its routing mode is an incomplete configuration. Check an included app and an excluded app after reconnecting, and keep exceptions as narrow as your task permits.

On iPhone, adding a website is not a promise that a separate banking or media app will be excluded. On Mac, confirm that the required extension is approved. These checks matter more than a brand-wide “split tunneling: yes” label.

The app and browser extension cover different traffic

Surfshark’s extension guide distinguishes browser traffic from the device VPN app. An extension does not automatically cover Kodi, a game or another standalone application. Running both together can also complicate troubleshooting.

For a television or media box, start with our Kodi device guide. For a phone, use the Android checklist to check connection protection, network changes and interactions with other VPN-based tools. No setup here guarantees a particular streaming library or a buffering improvement.

Introductory price versus renewal: a EUR example

Our 16 October 2026 Lithuania/EUR offer snapshot for Starter showed €67.23 for 27 months before VAT, then €70.66 for each 12-month renewal before VAT. This is a dated regional example, not a live or global quote. The price snapshot keeps the source, tax basis and alternative offers together.

The final row is our arithmetic using the quoted terms. It assumes that one renewal occurs at that quoted amount, with no extras or price changes; it is not a new subscription offer. The payments occur at different times, rather than as one 39-month charge. VAT must still be added where applicable.

Save the actual total, term, next billing date, renewal and selected extras from your checkout. Do not compare this EUR example with an AUD or USD headline as though the currencies and taxes were identical.

Refunds: the seller matters

The refund policy describes a 30-day guarantee for an eligible first purchase. It excludes renewals, previously refunded subscriptions and specified non-refundable services or add-ons. Check those conditions before paying.

For a website purchase, contact Surfshark support. Apple and Amazon purchases use those platforms’ refund processes. For Google Play, a request can go directly to Google within 48 hours; Surfshark support can assist afterward. Keep your receipt so you know which seller handled the payment.

Cancelling automatic renewal does not itself request a refund. A guarantee also involves paying upfront; it is not the same as a trial with no initial charge.

When to compare another provider
